The multi-talented actress was born in Baracoa, Cuba on May 26, 1972. She was raised in Bronx, New York. After graduating from high school, she enrolled in college where she studied arts, and after graduating she began her career in acting.
Prior to her graduation, Selenis appeared in several off-Broadway productions and made her television debut in 1999, when she landed a role in the reality television series titled Law & Order. She also made her film debut when she was featured in the film titled Debutante In 2000.
The talented actress has starred in several films, including Graceful Maria in 2004, Sex and the City 2 in 2010, Man in the Mirror in 2011, and Living with the Dead in 2014. She also starred opposite Viola Davis in the courtroom drama titled Guard in 2016 and the 2017 film titled Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Selenis made her breakthrough after joining the Netflix team and played a leading role in the production’s comedy-drama series titled Orange is the New Black from 2013 to present.
